Macy Hembd (she/her) is a San Francisco-based visual artist whose work lives in the in-between: between memory and moment, softness and shadow, dream and daybreak.
Working in painting, collage, and photography, Macy builds layered worlds that feel both familiar and fleeting. Her skies glow with impossible light. Her portraits dissolve and reassemble. In her hands, the ordinary becomes devotional: a flower, a cloud, a torn-up face, all holding something tender. She paints the kinds of feelings we don’t have words for – and maybe aren’t supposed to.
Originally from LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Macy holds degrees in Psychology, Art Therapy, and Social Justice. Her background in healing is inseparable from her art. Through community events, live painting, and deeply personal pieces, she creates space for reflection, vulnerability, and connection – reminding us that beauty doesn’t have to shout to be felt.
